“Witkoff and Kushner Don’t Understand the War; Their Participation in the Talks Is a Mistake.” — Kellog
Former U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Keith Kellogg criticized the involvement of Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in efforts to negotiate an end to Russia’s war against Ukraine, UATV English reports.
According to Kellogg, the two Trump representatives lack a sufficient understanding of the war and the realities on the ground, making their participation in the negotiations a mistake. His comments come as Witkoff and Kushner continue efforts to develop a framework for renewed peace talks.
Kellogg also highlighted several aspects of President Donald Trump’s approach to the negotiations:
The issue of Donbas remains one of the central obstacles to a potential agreement. Zelenskyy has previously said that Witkoff and Kushner are seeking a negotiating framework that could deliver a political victory for Trump, but that Russia continues to demand Ukraine’s withdrawal from Donbas. Kyiv considers such a demand unacceptable.
