Voices of Defenders: Riga opens photo exhibition about women fighting for Ukraine
The exhibition brings together photographs and personal stories of Ukrainian servicewomen. It shows not only their service on the front line, but also the human dimension of the war — the dreams, experiences, expectations, and everyday lives of those defending Ukraine.
LSM notes that the photographs show not only the military experience of Ukrainian women defenders, but also the stories of women "who, despite the war, continue to dream, support their comrades-in-arms, and defend the future of their country."
The Latvian National Library and the Ukrainian public organization Zemliachky Ukrainian Front jointly implemented the project. The organization supports women in Ukraine's Defense Forces by providing them with necessary equipment and other assistance.
The organizers created the photo exhibition as part of the charity campaign "Women defend. Latvia supports." Visitors can see the exhibition in the library's central hall until August 31.
Background
It should be noted that in June, Latvia's capital, Riga, hosted a temporary exhibition of specialized vehicles that Latvian volunteers use to rescue wounded Ukrainian soldiers on the front line. The event aimed to draw the European community's attention to the needs of medical evacuation in Ukraine and raise charitable donations.
