Ukraine's flag raised in Brussels for Independence Day, Eiffel Tower to glow blue and yellow in Paris

According to the European official, the Ukrainian flag was raised near the European Commission building in Brussels ahead of August 24.

So it can fly proudly at the heart of our Union, where it belongs.

Paris is also preparing for Ukraine's Independence Day. On the evening of August 24, the Eiffel Tower will be illuminated in blue and yellow.

The ceremony will take place at Place des Droits de l'Homme near Trocadéro. Before the illumination, Paris Mayor Emmanuel Grégoire and Ukraine's Ambassador to France Vadym Omelchenko will speak. After that, the Ukrainian children's choir "Zerniatko" will perform several songs.

The Paris City Hall said the event is intended to once again demonstrate support for democracy and the Ukrainian people. After the speeches, at 9:30 p.m., the Eiffel Tower will light up in blue and yellow.

As a reminder, on August 24, all Ukrainians would normally celebrate Ukraine's Independence Day. However, the full-scale war, now in its fifth year, has changed the way the holiday is marked. This year will be the 35th anniversary of Ukraine's independence. Sadly, for the past 11 years, Ukrainians have been fighting for it with weapons in their hands, driving Russian occupiers from their land.

Ahead of Independence Day, a five-minute audiovisual art installation, "The Future Remembers," was launched at the Mother Ukraine monument in Kyiv. The project tells the story of Ukrainian history and identity through light, symbols and music.

As Rubryka reported, ahead of the 35th anniversary of Ukraine's independence, the Ukraine WOW NGO and the "Come Back Alive" Foundation recreated the flag that was brought into the Verkhovna Rada on August 24, 1991. One thousand copies of the historic flag can be obtained with a charitable donation, with the funds going toward ground robotic systems for Ukraine's Defense Forces.
