Ukrainian-Belarusian Border Is Turning Into a Front Line — Expert

The Belarusian side continues to deploy personnel and military equipment toward the Ukrainian border and is also forming a new airborne assault brigade near the frontier, UATV English reports.

Russia is using Belarusian territory and military infrastructure to maintain psychological, informational, and military pressure on Ukraine and NATO countries. However, there are currently no signs that Russia is forming strike groups for a ground invasion.

Military and political analyst Dmytro Sniehyrov said this on the FREEДОМ TV channel.

According to him, the escalation along the entire Ukrainian-Belarusian border is part of Russia’s strategy. Moscow is using a “thousand cuts” tactic to divert the attention of the Ukrainian General Staff toward secondary directions.

“The Ukrainian-Belarusian border is already effectively a front line. It stretches for a thousand kilometers. The Russians’ plan is to create a zone of instability in order to divert operational reserves,” Sniehyrov explained.

The main direction of Russia’s offensive is currently concentrated in Donetsk region. Moscow is seeking to create conditions in which the Ukrainian army would be forced to conduct combat operations on two fronts simultaneously.

“However, according to Ukrainian intelligence, no movement of Russian troops has been recorded on the territory of Belarus. Only a limited contingent remains there, with no signs of a large-scale redeployment. Their total number is around 2,000. Most of them are technical personnel serving Russian military facilities in Belarus, primarily three military airfields,” the analyst said.

In addition, Ukrainian intelligence reports that no field ammunition depots or military hospitals have been deployed in Belarus.

According to Sniehyrov, this indicates the initial signs of a potential invasion force being formed.
