Ukraine presses urgent energy needs at Energy Ramstein meeting in Gdańsk

He thanked Ukraine's international partners for supporting the country's energy sector, particularly for supplying equipment from decommissioned thermal power plants abroad.

As previously reported, Ukraine is restoring its damaged energy system while simultaneously building a new one that is more resilient, decentralized, environmentally friendly, and based on distributed energy cells.

Background

The two-day Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC 2026) opened in Gdańsk, Poland, on June 25. The conference is focused on rebuilding the parts of Ukraine hit hardest by Russia's aggression.

The conference agenda covers five areas: business, human capital, local and regional development, European Union integration, and security and defense.

Guests are discussing ways to attract domestic and foreign investment to rebuild Ukraine's economy and develop its industrial base. They are also zeroing in on support for young people, internally displaced people, and veterans, while pushing reforms in education and healthcare.

Another key area is strengthening communities through housing upgrades, energy system development, and local economic growth.

Participants are also discussing Ukraine's path to EU membership, ongoing reforms, and efforts to uphold the rule of law. In security, participants are focused on strengthening air defenses, advancing drone technology, and expanding humanitarian demining.

URC 2026 also features a Recovery Forum, a business fair, a think tank forum, and dedicated infrastructure and energy platforms.

As previously reported, the Ukrainian delegation is headed by Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko and includes government officials, lawmakers, business representatives, and members of civil society.
