Ukraine brings home four sailors captured by Iranian military forces
Tykhyi said that the Ukrainian citizens were members of the crew of the container ship Epimonidas, which was sailing through the Strait of Hormuz. After they were detained by the IRGC, Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including its Consular Service Department and the Embassy of Ukraine in Greece, identified the sailors and maintained contact with their families, the Greek ship-owning company, and other relevant parties while working to secure their release.
It is now known that the Ukrainians have left Iran and are safely reunited with their families. Their health condition is reported to be satisfactory.
"We are grateful to our diplomatic colleagues from partner countries, representatives of the ship-owning company, and everyone who contributed to bringing our sailors home. This remains a fundamental principle of Ukraine's diplomatic service: Ukraine does not abandon its people," Tykhyi said.
