Ukrainian women’s duo wins silver at European diving championships
According to the sports federation, the Ukrainian duo performed successfully in the final, scoring 278.40 points.
For Bochek and Karnafel, this is the second consecutive European Championship at which they have reached the podium. They began their medal-winning streak at their debut continental championship in 2025.
The silver became Ukraine's fifth medal at the current European Championships in Paris. It is also the 130th medal won by Ukrainian divers at European championships since independence.
Background
It should be noted that Ukrainian divers Oleksii Sereda and Kseniia Bailo became European champions in the mixed synchronized 10-meter platform event the day before. Their victory at the tournament in Paris brought Ukraine its first gold medal at the 2026 European Aquatics Championships.
In the final, the Ukrainian duo began with the second-best result but moved into the lead after the second round. Their next dive allowed them to increase their lead over their closest rivals from Germany, and the athletes received their highest score on the final attempt, securing the championship title.
For Oleksii Sereda, this is his second medal at the current European Championships. Earlier, together with Mark Hrytsenko, he won bronze in the synchronized 10-meter platform event.
Kseniia Bailo also reached the podium in Paris for the second time. Before that, she won bronze in synchronized diving together with Sofiia Vystavkina. The Ukrainian team claimed another bronze medal in the mixed team event.
It should be noted that last year Ukrainian athletes Oleksii Sereda and Mark Hrytsenko won gold in synchronized platform diving at the European Championships, scoring 413.76 points. It was their best result of the season.
