Veteran who lost all four limbs in war fulfills dream and paraglides over Carpathians
In 2024, during fighting in the Bakhmut sector, he suffered a severe mine-blast injury that led to the loss of both arms and legs.
Despite the amputation of all four limbs, Mykola Shot, a patient and mentor at the UNBROKEN Center, proves every day that life does not stop after a severe injury. He takes part in races on prosthetics, drives an adaptive car, and skis. Now he also wanted to take to the sky on a paraglider over the Carpathians.
The teams of the UNBROKEN Center and the "7 Nebo" flying club helped the veteran make this dream come true.
Then came the run-up, the lift-off, and the first moments in the sky. Mykola, together with an experienced instructor and 7nebo.borzhava team leader Andrii Zhuk completed a tandem paragliding flight and saw the Carpathians from a bird's-eye view.
"Words can't describe it… You all looked so tiny from above. It was just amazing!" Mykola Shot said after the successful landing. He added that he would gladly repeat the experience.
According to the instructor, the main thing in such challenges is not physical ability, but a person's inner strength.
For Mykola, this flight became not only the fulfillment of another dream but also further proof that even after the most severe injuries, people can continue to discover new horizons and that nothing in life is impossible.

It should be noted that 40-year-old Lviv resident Mykola Shot, who was seriously injured during a mortar attack while serving in Ukraine's armed forces and lost all four limbs, has returned to driving.
It is worth adding that in June, Rubryka wrote that in Lviv, prosthetists fulfilled the dream of a veteran who lost all his limbs in the war. Forty-year-old soldier Mykola Shot received new permanent leg prostheses with a special design.
Moreover, young athlete Oleksandra Paskhal, who lost her leg during the Russian missile attack on the Odesa region, took part in competitions organized by the bronze medalist of the 2016 Olympics, Anna Rizatdinova.
Also, thanks to a special prosthesis, which caring people helped purchase, Taras Kozub, a veteran of the 47th separate mechanized brigade "Magura," returned to playing the lyre.
