Lithuania joins Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Fund
Lukas Alsis announced that Lithuania is joining the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Fund.
Tetiana Berezhna thanked the Lithuanian side for its consistent support for Ukraine and highlighted Lithuania's special role as one of Ukraine's closest international partners.
The parties paid special attention to the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Fund, one of the key international mechanisms supporting the restoration of cultural sites damaged or destroyed as a result of Russian aggression.
Tetiana Berezhna briefed the Lithuanian side on the Fund's first results and the projects that have already received support. The parties also discussed common challenges in countering Russian propaganda and disinformation.
Lukas Alsis noted Ukraine's experience in developing mechanisms to protect the information space and emphasized the importance of exchanging best practices between the two countries.
Tetiana Berezhna presented Ukraine's experience in countering Russian narratives, including through the development of Ukrainian cultural products, support for artists, and the implementation of the state initiative "Tysiachovesna," which aims to create high-quality Ukrainian cultural content.
Tetiana Filevska briefed the Lithuanian side on the development of international cooperation within the Cultural Resilience Alliance. This platform brings together countries and organizations supporting the protection and preservation of Ukraine's cultural heritage during the war. She said Ukraine's experience in protecting cultural institutions, evacuating museum items, ensuring institutional security, and organizing work under constant attacks has drawn significant interest from international partners.
The parties also discussed the possibility of further cooperation during Lithuania's future presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2027. The Ukrainian side expressed readiness to participate in meetings of EU culture ministers, present Ukraine's experience, and jointly shape the agenda for protecting culture in Europe.
