Veteran opens barrier-free barbershop at St. Panteleimon Hospital in Lviv
He first served as an infantry assault soldier, and after his first injury, he trained as an FPV drone operator. In 2024, the serviceman suffered a second, much more serious injury, which resulted in the loss of his leg.
During treatment and rehabilitation at the UNBROKEN Center, Vasyl launched an initiative to offer free haircuts to patients by inviting volunteer barbers to the center. Over time, the idea grew into the opening of his own barbershop.

Every Monday, Iron Wings serves veterans free of charge. The barbershop's founder also encourages other barbers to join the volunteer initiative and offer free haircuts to service members undergoing treatment and rehabilitation.
In addition, from Tuesday to Saturday, service members and employees of St. Panteleimon Hospital receive a 20% discount. The barbershop currently offers men's haircuts, beard styling, and beard care. In the future, the team plans to expand its services by adding professional hair coloring.

"The story of Vasyl Kurylo is an example of how rehabilitation helps people not only recover from a severe injury, but also find new opportunities for professional development, support their comrades-in-arms, and help create a barrier-free environment," the First Medical Association of Lviv said.

War veteran and UNBROKEN Center patient Mykola Shot, who lost both arms and legs after a severe injury, continues to conquer new heights. After taking part in races on prosthetics, skiing, and driving an adaptive car, he has now fulfilled another bold dream — paragliding over the Carpathians.
It should be noted that 40-year-old Lviv resident Mykola Shot, who was seriously injured during a mortar attack while serving in Ukraine's armed forces and lost all four limbs, has returned to driving.
It is worth adding that in June, Rubryka wrote that in Lviv, prosthetists fulfilled the dream of a veteran who lost all his limbs in the war. Forty-year-old soldier Mykola Shot received new permanent leg prostheses with a special design.
Moreover, young athlete Oleksandra Paskhal, who lost her leg during the Russian missile attack on the Odesa region, took part in competitions organized by the bronze medalist of the 2016 Olympics, Anna Rizatdinova.
Also, thanks to a special prosthesis, which caring people helped purchase, Taras Kozub, a veteran of the 47th separate mechanized brigade "Magura," returned to playing the lyre.
