United to win: Kramatorsk plant starts producing barrels for Western artillery systems

Overall, the Kramatorsk Heavy Machine Tool Building Plant works with 105 European companies. They include Leonardo, KNDS, Rheinmetall, and BAE Systems.
The KZVV representative also stressed that the company works with Western partners under licensing agreements.
It should be noted that the Kramatorsk Heavy Machine Tool Building Plant registered an international patent for the 2S22 Bohdana self-propelled artillery system. This agreement regulates the rights and obligations of participating states and applicants, making the patent process more accessible and efficient. In the patent documentation, the Bohdana self-propelled artillery system appears on a new chassis in a full configuration.
As Rubryka reported earlier, the Bohdana self-propelled artillery system has come close to western counterparts, including France's CAESAR, in terms of combat and technical capabilities. The system undergoes constant modernization during the war and already has several versions.
As of October 2025, domestic 155 mm Bohdanas — both self-propelled and towed — account for about 40% of all artillery systems used on the front line.
In addition, in January 2026, it became known that the Bohdana artillery system had begun production across four chassis types simultaneously to eliminate platform shortages and maintain high production rates of self-propelled howitzers for the armed forces.
As reported, Ukraine is accelerating the development of its own defense production and preparing to introduce new artillery, missile, and unmanned systems for the needs of the Missile and Artillery Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The key focus is on strike accuracy, the versatility of launch platforms, and reducing the time between target detection and opening fire.
