At the same time, work continues to diversify petroleum product supply routes. Officials are paying particular attention to the Romanian direction.
Following a recent meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi and Romanian President Nicușor Dan, the two sides reached specific agreements to expand the logistics capacity of rail and river routes through Romania. The parties are now working at the government level to implement these agreements.
Meanwhile, Ukraine continues to increase its fuel reserves. As of early September, according to the State Customs Service, the State Tax Service, and market operators, fuel stocks are sufficient to meet current consumption levels.
Background
As Rubryka reported, Ukraine loses several billion cubic meters of methane every year, which it could capture, use as an energy resource, and turn into part of its energy independence. A new study by Green Deal Ukraïna estimates Ukraine's technical potential for methane utilization at 2-3 billion cubic meters per year, or up to 15% of the country's current natural gas consumption. Therefore, eliminating leaks could become a source of energy security.
