Solutions to win: Ukraine approves upgraded Gyurza-2 armored vehicle with AI capabilities and enhanced protection

The vehicle was modernized in response to requests from military personnel and the demands of wartime operations. Engineers strengthened:

As a result, the vehicle's cross-country mobility and survivability in combat conditions have significantly improved.

The armored hull has also been fitted with a full-cabin anti-fragmentation lining, providing additional protection for the crew, troops, and onboard equipment against shrapnel damage.

Technical Specifications of the Upgraded UAT.GYURZA-02

The upgraded Gyurza-2 has a gross weight of just over 18 tonnes. Its payload capacity has increased to 2.5 tonnes, while ground clearance has been raised to 380 mm. The vehicle's operational range now reaches 1,200 km, and its maximum speed is 110 km/h. Its mine protection meets STANAG 4569 Level 3a and 3b standards, allowing the crew to withstand the detonation of a mine equivalent to 8 kilograms of TNT beneath or near the vehicle.

The upgraded Gyurza can be produced in two configurations: with a rotating weapon turret or without one.

The Gyurza-2 special armored vehicle is equipped with air ventilation, heating, and air-conditioning systems, as well as an autonomous fuel-powered heater. It also features fire suppression systems for both the engine compartment and troop compartment, a night vision suite, and a panoramic video surveillance system consisting of four cameras and monitoring displays.

The vehicles can also be equipped with software for monitoring the external environment using artificial intelligence technologies.

It is worth noting that in 2025, the Armed Forces of Ukraine received 25 percent more specialized armored vehicles than in 2024. Most of these vehicles were manufactured according to the MRAP (Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected) design concept, which provides enhanced protection against mines and ambushes. Such vehicles feature a V-shaped hull designed to disperse blast energy, special shock-absorbing seats, a monocoque armored capsule, and external blast-absorbing components, including the wheels, chassis, and engine.
