Ukraine receives first batch of armored evacuation vehicles funded by UNITED24 donors
The armored ambulances are intended for evacuating injured people from high-risk areas where the use of conventional medical vehicles could endanger both patients and healthcare workers.
"This transport is designed for evacuating the wounded from dangerous areas, where the use of standard ambulance vehicles may pose risks to patients and medical personnel," the ministry stated.
The vehicles are equipped with NATO STANAG 4569 Level 2 armor protection, which allows them to withstand:
In addition, the vehicles feature a door seam overlap system, which provides extra protection by preventing bullets from penetrating the cabin through gaps and joints between the doors.
The ministry also noted that the vehicles feature a dedicated medical compartment designed to accommodate two medical personnel and up to three patients, including those being transported on stretchers.
The interior layout allows for the installation of essential medical equipment and enables healthcare workers to provide treatment and monitoring to wounded patients during evacuation.
In addition, the armored vehicles are equipped with:
These capabilities allow the vehicles to operate in hard-to-reach areas, navigate challenging off-road terrain, and carry out medical evacuation missions over long distances.
The Ministry of Health emphasized that, to ensure safe operation during evacuation missions, each vehicle is additionally equipped with:
"To ensure safe operation during evacuation missions, each vehicle is additionally equipped with a night vision system, a 360-degree surround-view camera system with a monitor, an audio communication system between the driver's cabin and the medical compartment, armored windows, run-flat tires (which allow the vehicle to continue moving even after damage or loss of tire pressure), as well as mounting points for a Starlink satellite communication system or similar alternatives," the Ministry of Health emphasized.
In addition, the vehicles are fitted with provisions for installing the medical equipment necessary to provide care to wounded patients during evacuation.
