122 audio guides in 59 countries: how the Ukrainian language is expanding its global cultural presence

According to Ukraine's First Lady Olena Zelenska, new Ukrainian-language audio guides have been introduced at:

Since the launch of the initiative, its reach has expanded to 122 Ukrainian-language audio guides in 59 countries worldwide.

"Wherever Ukrainians travel, they should be able to access information in their native language. And the world should become accustomed to hearing our language in its rightful place alongside other languages," emphasized Ukraine's First Lady, Olena Zelenska.

At the same time, the network of Ukrainian bookshelves abroad continues to grow:

Overall, the cultural initiative has expanded to 73 countries worldwide, as well as the headquarters of UNESCO. Today, more than 390 Ukrainian bookshelves are operating globally, featuring over 100,000 books.

"Ukrainian literature, science, history, and books containing deep, objective information about our country should be accessible in every corner of the world, wherever Ukrainians live, to support them.

They are also important so that our international friends can get to know us better. Mutual understanding comes only through objective knowledge and a willingness to understand one another. We are working toward that — for Ukraine and for the world," said Olena Zelenska.

The initiative to create Ukrainian-language audio guides in world-renowned museums and heritage sites was launched in 2020 at the First Lady's initiative. In 2024, 18 new Ukrainian-language audio guides were introduced, and hundreds of books were donated to Ukrainian bookshelves abroad.

In September of last year, three more Ukrainian-language audio guides were launched. These include:

In addition, Westminster Abbey in London introduced its first-ever Ukrainian-language audio guide as part of the initiative led by Olena Zelenska.

A Ukrainian-language audio guide was also launched at the Grigore Antipa National Museum of Natural History in Bucharest, one of Romania's oldest and most visited museums, marking the country's first museum audio guide in Ukrainian.
