Solutions to win: Ukraine's defense ministry codifies Dovbush T40 drone system for long-range reconnaissance and strikes

Ukrainian developers have created a long-range unmanned aerial system that combines the capabilities of a reconnaissance and strike drone. The Dovbush T40 has already passed tests, during which it confirmed its stated specifications.

The system is intended for use at a significant distance from the front, including against enemy targets deep in the rear.

The Dovbush T40 has a wingspan of almost 5 meters and can stay in the air for more than a day. The drone can:

For strike missions, the system offers two options: the drone can be used as a kamikaze drone or drop munitions.

During tests, the drone confirmed its stated tactical and technical characteristics. It has several advantages over similar aircraft:

In addition, the Dovbush T40 stands out for its high resistance to electronic warfare. Its operating range also allows Ukraine to strike targets in remote areas of Russia.

Background

The company's Dovbush T20 and Kotyhoroshko unmanned aerial systems have been operating on the battlefield since 2022 and have some of the highest efficiency rates.

The Dovbush T20 unmanned aircraft once became an optimal solution for medium-range reconnaissance, real-time artillery fire adjustment, and precision strikes. Based on feedback, it evolved into the longer-range and more powerful Dovbush T40 strike system.

It should be noted that Ukrainian defense company Fire Point plans to complete work on the FP-7 tactical ballistic missile this autumn. It will have a range of up to 200 kilometers and a 150-kilogram warhead. At the same time, the company is developing the longer-range FP-9, which will be able to fly up to 855 kilometers.
