The consulate emphasized that the new educational center will allow Ukrainian children living in Lyon and the surrounding areas to study Ukrainian regularly and learn about their country's history, culture, and traditions.

The opening ceremony was attended by:

Serhii Esaulov, Consul General of Ukraine in Lyon, stressed the importance of maintaining children's ties with Ukraine, wherever they live.

"It is important to us that Ukrainian children, wherever they live, maintain their connection with Ukraine through its language, culture, history, and traditions. This school will help children preserve their roots and remain part of the Ukrainian community," he said.

Esaulov also thanked local authorities for supporting the initiative. In particular, he highlighted the contributions of Lyon Mayor Grégory Doucet and Emmanuel Girod, Mayor of the city's 9th arrondissement, to making the Ukrainian school possible.

The Consul General also expressed special thanks to school director Marie Durand, who provided the premises for the school and helped bring the initiative to life.

Valentyna Cellier, director of the Ukrainian school, was also recognised, along with the teachers and everyone who helped organise the educational process and bring the project to life.

The Lyon 9th arrondissement mayor's office congratulated the students and their families on the school's opening. Local officials emphasised the importance of supporting children in preserving their native language and culture.

A Ukrainian Sunday school also opened in Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland. It aims to be not only a place of learning but also a space where children can socialise, build friendships, and maintain their ties with Ukraine. Students will study their native language, culture, history, and traditions.

In addition, the team at the Vchysia public organisation developed 1,138 sets of educational materials for teachers delivering the Ukrainian studies curriculum to Ukrainian children living abroad.
