Veterans from Rivne region win four gold medals at Strongman World Championship in Latvia
Volodymyr Klymov, Pavlo Korytniuk, Dmytro Svyrydon, and Yevhen Fedoseienko became champions in their respective categories.
At the international competition, they faced strongmen from the US, Brazil, Germany, France, Georgia, Latvia, and Lithuania.
Background
All four athletes are members of the Rivne veteran sports club "Nothing is Impossible." They joined Ukraine's national team following successful performances at all-Ukrainian competitions.
Following medical treatment and rehabilitation, the veteran gradually returned to physical exercise and sports competitions. Subsequently, he won awards at the International Strong Spirit's Games and the European Championship.
In 2026, Korytniuk became the Ukrainian champion among war veterans. That same year, he won three gold medals at the International Strong Spirit's Games in Austria.
In May 2026, the athlete won two gold medals at the European Veterans Championship in Georgia.
Following his injury, the veteran took up adaptive sports and began participating in all-Ukrainian and international tournaments.
In addition to his athletic endeavors, Fedoseienko works as a social work specialist at the regional "Veteran Space," where he assists fellow veterans.
The World Championship in Latvia marks another international achievement for athletes from the Rivne region.
In May of this year, Volodymyr Klymov, Dmytro Svyrydon, and Yevhen Fedoseienko already won gold medals at the European Strongman Championship in Georgia.
In September, Klymov and Pavlo Korytniuk also performed successfully at the International Strong Spirit's Games in Austria.
Now, all four veterans have added world champion titles to their athletic achievements, winning gold medals at the World Military Strongman Championship in Riga.
It should be noted that 142 war veterans and active military personnel gathered in Berdychiv, Zhytomyr region, for the final stage of the all-Ukrainian "Strong of Ukraine" competition, where the organizers adapted strength disciplines to accommodate participants' varying physical conditions.
It was also reported that the national "Veteran Sport" program will continue its work, though a new phase will not launch in October. Authorities plan to launch it permanently in 2027, revising the mechanism so that targeted funds flow directly to veterans actively engaged in sports.
