Kremlin Uses Bulgarian Media To Discredit Ukraine And Circumvent EU Sanctions — CCD
Pro-Russian narratives aimed at discrediting Ukraine and undermining support for it are being spread across Bulgaria’s information space. This is reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) under Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), UATV English informs.
“In particular, affiliated platforms are pushing Kremlin-favorable claims that missile strikes on industrial and logistics hubs ‘call into question the entire economic model of attracting foreign investment into Ukraine’ and ‘block export corridors for Western holdings,'” the CCD reported.
The Center noted that Russian propaganda manipulates narratives about the vulnerability of Ukrainian manufacturing and port infrastructure, attempting to shift attention from Russian aggression toward allegedly unjustified risks for foreign business.
“The resources that systematically broadcast such claims belong to a media segment that independent research organizations classify as key hubs of pro-Kremlin influence in Bulgaria. More than 70% of their content consists of direct reprints, translations, and adaptations of materials from sanctioned Russian state media,” the CCD emphasized.
The Center also drew attention to the fact that local websites not only spread Russian propaganda messages, but also help Moscow circumvent European Union sanctions.
“The systematic reprinting of Kremlin propaganda materials by local websites, besides imposing pro-Russian narratives on the audience, serves another important function for Moscow — it facilitates the circumvention of EU sanctions restrictions,” the CCD stated.
The Center emphasized the need to take the activity of such resources into account when ensuring the effectiveness of European sanctions.
“To ensure the effectiveness of European sanctions, the international community must also pay attention to such local relay resources, which allow blocked Russian propaganda to penetrate the information space of EU member states,” the Center for Countering Disinformation concluded.
Earlier, Poland’s Deputy Minister of National Defense Cezary Tomczyk stated that Poland is already preparing for a full-scale war with Russia.
