Norway to provide Ukraine with another $9.2 bln in 2027
In 2027, Norway intends to allocate 85 billion Norwegian kroner to Ukraine, equivalent to about $9.2 billion. Thus, the level of support will remain roughly the same as in 2026.
According to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, the decision to continue supporting Ukraine has broad political backing in the country. He noted that all parties represented in parliament support maintaining the aid.
"Norway's support will continue. It is supported by all parties in parliament. In 2027, we will maintain support at the same level as this year, around $9 billion," Støre said.
The planned assistance will be comprehensive and include military, humanitarian, and financial support. At the same time, as the Norwegian prime minister emphasized, Ukraine itself will determine the priorities based on its most urgent needs.
"It will correspond to Ukraine's priorities. Ukraine determines its needs, and we do everything we can to respond to them," Støre said.
The Norwegian prime minister also emphasized that support for Ukraine for his country is long-term and should not end with the war.
"Supporting and rebuilding Ukraine is not just aid. It is an investment in Europe's own security," Støre said.
The Norwegian government's statement came amid the visit to Kyiv by Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and the leaders of the Nordic and Baltic countries. On Sunday, August 23, they are in Ukraine to demonstrate their support for the country in its war with Russia.
As reported, the next meeting of the "Coalition of the Willing" is scheduled for August 24. During the meeting, the leaders are expected to reaffirm their determination to strengthen support for Ukraine so that it can defend itself against Russia's aggression.
On August 22, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul also arrived in Kyiv. His visit comes ahead of the 35th anniversary of Ukraine's independence.
