Solutions to win: Ukraine expands women's role in humanitarian demining, opening deminer training to 300 women
UN Women Ukraine implements the "She Demines" program in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine, in partnership with the Ukrainian Deminers Association, the NGO "Divchata," and BBC Media Action, with funding from the governments of Canada and Croatia. Ihor Bezkaravainyi, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine, took part in the strategic meeting.
Among other things, the participants presented the results of an online survey on staffing needs for operational positions. The survey was conducted in March 2026, and 28 non-state mine action operators expressed interest in cooperating with program participants.
In general, UN Women Ukraine and its partners are working to help women develop leadership and financial literacy skills, build psychological resilience to make their own decisions, and make informed choices.
