Russia may have attacked Poland to prevent Ukraine from receiving new air defense systems before winter, — Zelenskyy

Finnish President Alexander Stubb arrived on a visit to Ukraine on Thursday, Yermak reported.

According to Foreign Minister Sybiha, Stubb held important talks with President Zelenskyy on European security and integration, transatlantic pressure on Russia, and steps towards a lasting peace.

“Almost two dozen drones flew deliberately. There is a complete analysis of their flight trajectories,” — Zelenskyy on the Russian attack on Polish territory.

The head of state of Ukraine made this statement during a joint press conference with Alexander Stubb.

“More and more details are emerging about the construction of the drones used by Russia. All of this indicates that the drone launches by Russia into Polish territory, via Ukraine and Belarus, were deliberate. This is definitely not accidental,” the President of Ukraine noted.

Zelenskyy stated that Russia may have attacked Poland to prevent Ukraine from receiving new air defense systems before winter. He emphasized that building an Eastern air defense shield for Europe as already become an urgent task.

In fact, this is becoming an element of EU policy, President of Ukraine added.

“Ukraine is proposing a joint program to all neighboring European countries for financing the production and development of interceptor drones. Because of the war, Ukraine has become a leader in this area — it is a completely new technological direction. This must be approached as quickly as possible so that bureaucratic processes do not get in the way. We are open to this work and cooperation,” the President of Ukraine noted.

The President of Finland suggested that new provocations from Russia are possible, but they must be anticipated.

“We will continue to develop. As for potential future attacks — Russia will provoke us: there will be hybrid operations, underwater operations at sea with cables, drone attacks, but the Finnish response will be that we remain calm and focused,” the President of Finland emphasized.

“We are recording the accumulation of military equipment and the development of Russian military infrastructure. These actions are clearly not defensive and are aimed not only against Ukraine,” Zelenskyy stated.

“Military exercises by Russia and Belarus on Belarusian territory have effectively already begun. We are monitoring this from Ukraine,” the President of Ukraine said.

“Everyone in Europe, unfortunately, feels that Russia has the ability to continue and expand its aggression, which means steps are needed. Strong steps — and not only from Europe. Pressure that will genuinely limit Russia’s belligerent potential. Unfortunately, even after yesterday’s events, after the drone strikes in Poland, and after many hybrid attacks by Russia against European countries, there are still no truly strong, tangible countermeasures against Russia,” the President of Ukraine added.
