Ukrainian Forces Make Gains On Several Front-Line Sections — ISW

Ukrainian forces have disrupted several Russian offensive operations and made advances on a number of sections of the front line over the past several days, according to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), UATV English reports.

Russian forces continued offensive operations near Lyman on September 27 and 28 but failed to make confirmed advances as Ukrainian troops carried out counterattacks. Russian forces also made no gains east of Sloviansk, according to the ISW assessment.

The institute noted that even some Russian military bloggers have acknowledged recent Ukrainian gains. Ukrainian forces have reportedly advanced toward Rai-Oleksandrivka and entered areas of Chasiv Yar controlled by Russian troops.

“Ukrainian forces recently advanced in southwestern Chasiv Yar, and Russian forces likely do not maintain stable positions in Mykolaivka or Podilske,” the ISW said.

The ISW also assessed that Ukrainian forces likely cleared Russian sabotage and reconnaissance positions southwest of Druzhkivka in the Donetsk region.

Further south, Ukrainian forces reportedly made advances southeast of Orikhiv in the Zaporizhzhia region, marking additional movement in an area where fighting has continued.

The developments come amid ongoing Russian offensive operations across several sectors of the front. At the same time, Ukrainian forces have continued conducting counterattacks and local offensive actions aimed at disrupting Russian advances.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has previously said that Ukrainian forces had liberated 176 square kilometers of territory since the beginning of their latest offensive operations.
