Rebuilding Ukraine: EU to allocate €10 mln for bomb shelters across Ukraine
The ministry noted that other coalition members are determining their respective financial contributions. Specifically, upcoming consultations are scheduled with the government of Finland, which co-chairs the initiative alongside Ukraine.
Additionally, Ukraine's Deputy Minister for Development of Communities and Territories Artem Husak presented a project to install 840 mobile shelters along school bus routes across six frontline regions: Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv.
Background
The Civil Defense Shelter Coalition for Ukraine launched in May 2025 through a joint statement by the prime ministers of Ukraine and Finland. Following the signing of a memorandum of understanding, the European Union, Lithuania, Belgium, Ireland, Sweden, Switzerland, and the European Investment Bank joined the initiative. The coalition aims to secure international funding, modernize existing shelters, and construct new protective facilities nationwide.
