According to Deputy Defense Minister Liubov Halan, modernized centers allow military personnel to train based on real combat experience. She emphasized that training inside Ukraine serves as an equally fundamental pillar of defense as ammunition and equipment, noting that weapons cannot function without well-trained personnel.
Background
The European Union initiated the project, opening participation and funding to all partner nations, with Denmark serving as the fund manager. Ukraine's Ministry of Defense and Denmark's Ministry of Defense previously signed a Letter of Intent to modernize one of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' training centers. Under this agreement, Denmark allocated approximately 33 million euros toward training infrastructure, living and sanitation facilities, specialized equipment, and training drones.
The project operates under the auspices of the European External Action Service (EEAS), the Military Planning and Conduct Capability (MPCC), and the European Union Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine).
The Come Back Alive Foundation will execute the project on the ground in close cooperation with Ukraine's Ministry of Defense.
