United to win: Ukrainian Tencore and Finnish Insta create joint venture, set first aim to produce 320 TerMIT 2.0 robots for Ukraine’s army
The project will be implemented under the state initiative Build with Ukraine. Ukrainian company Tencore and Finland's Insta signed their first memorandum of cooperation on February 24.
The total value of the agreements is about 800 million euros. The documents cover cooperation in the production of unmanned systems and ground robotics. Some of the agreements formalize the start of cooperation. Others define the framework for future production programs.
According to Tencore CEO and co-founder Maksym Vasylchenko, the Finnish side first approached the Ukrainian company about a possible partnership in February 2024. That was when Tencore and Insta agreed to produce the TerMIT ground robotic platform and robots for Ukraine.
Background
TerMIT is a multifunctional ground robotic system used for logistics tasks, evacuation, mining, and fire support. In September last year, Tencore presented an updated version of the platform, TerMIT 2.0. Its range increased from 20 to 40 kilometers, while its maximum speed rose from 7–8 kilometers per hour to 15 kilometers per hour.
TerMITs can also carry combat modules. The new version has improved dynamic characteristics and potential for further upgrades. It can transport up to 300 kilograms of cargo.
Thanks to its low silhouette, low center of gravity, and tracks, this ground robot can traverse varied terrain and surfaces, including difficult off-road areas and steep slopes, overcome obstacles, and travel through trenches.
Earlier, Rubryka reported that Ukrainian drone developer Airlogix and Finnish company Innokas had agreed to cooperate on creating production facilities in Finland to manufacture UAVs using Ukrainian technologies.
