Selena Gomez’s Ice Cream Pastel Nails Are My Entire Summer Manicure Plan

Just when I thought I was going to have soap nails summer—I do honestly love the trend—Selena Gomez had to swoop in and change my plans.
So many celebs and normies alike have been gravitating toward sheer nude nails lately that it's become hard to picture wearing a bold color like in summers past, when our fingertips were decked out in neon shades, cherry red, nontraditional French manicures, and cheerful nail art. But Gomez, who just wrapped the fifth and final season of Only Murders in the Building, has reminded us that there's a gateway polish—a bridge between barely there and bold: creamy, ice cream-esque pastels.
Gomez shared a carousel of photos to her Instagram grid on Thursday, June 19, in which she reveals she'll be a panelist on a reboot of the classic game show Match Game, hosted by her Only Murders costar, Martin Short. She's seen with Cara Delevingne, another Only Murders alum, as well as Anthony Anderson, Annie Murphy, Joel McHale, and Thomas Lennon. But as much as I love to see such a stacked comedic lineup, I was even more thrilled to spot her truly lovely nail color.
Although the studio lighting may make the opaque shade seem like a pale pink, in reality, Gomez's chosen nail color, Aprés Gel Couleur in Aster Family, is actually a stunning, creamy shade of lilac. Neither too lavender nor too bubble gum, it falls right in that sweet spot between the two pale hues.

I can't blame Gomez for asking her nail artist, Tom Bachik, to do such a subtle yet noticeably pretty shade for her Match Game stint; after all, we'll get to see her manicure every time she holds up her answer cards. And every time she does, it will remind me that I want to do a color just like that next time I paint my nails.
