Selena Gomez's Pimple Patch Is Cracking Me Up

Zits happen, even when you're a mega-famous superstar like Selena Gomez. In a cute new candid pic, the Rare Beauty founder showed off a very surprising choice of pimple patch and it's exactly what I needed to see today. Who lives in a pineapple… well, wait, on Selena Gomez's face? It's SpongeBob SquarePants!

Yes, the titular cheerful yellow sponge is helping Gomez get through a breakout. Gomez shared a glimpse at her adorable square-shaped pimple patch on Instagram Stories, cheekily writing that she was having one of those “I feel sexy” days. (Been there.) She's barefaced in the pic save for the aforementioned square-shaped pimple patch, which is placed on her lower lip doing its very important work of shrinking, healing, and protecting a zit from eager picky fingers.

When you're dealing with unexpected acne, sometimes you have to look for the humor in the situation, and clearly Gomez (and SpongeBob!) knows what's up. You can't not smile when you see it. And as someone who has a brand-new zit in a similar spot on my upper lip, I wish I had a cartoon character pimple patch to help me through it, especially one as optimistic and upbeat as SpongeBob himself. If anyone can cure a zit, he can!

The pimple patch in question is likely from Starface's previous collaboration with SpongeBob SquarePants; unfortunately, that collab was a limited-edition drop, but their popular, colorful Hydro-Stars are certainly cute enough to wear out of the house or in an IG Stories selfie when you're having one of those days.

This isn't the first time Gomez has shared a pic of a breakout with the world. In October 2024, she quipped that “even my skin is over me rn” and gave us a glimpse of two red zits on her chin. Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown has also been forthright about her struggles with acne, posting pictures of breakouts and talking honestly about her skin, and Riverdale actor Lili Reinhart has openly spoken about how much acne impacts her mental health. Acne is part of life for many of us, but being honest about it helps make the ups, downs, and bumps in the road a little easier… and so does a cute pimple patch.
