Scientists have found how low wages affect health

Researchersat Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health found that low wages are detrimental to health. In their scientific work, they agreed with the previous statements of scientists who had already said that little money causes depression, obesity and hypertension. However, on their own behalf, they added that cognitive aging can also be included in the list of symptoms of "low earnings" (Cognitive functions include memory, gnosis, speech, praxis and intelligence). As part of the study, experts studied the physical condition of people over a long period. In doing so, they approached the analysis in terms of salaries. At the same time, they took into account what kind of salary a person received, increased it to him, how long he received this or that amount. The researchers found that compared with workers who never received low wages, those who consistently received low wages experienced significantly faster memory decline in old age. This work provides new evidence that the persistent impact of low wages is associated with accelerated memory decline in old age, the researchers noted. At the same time, the author of the study, Adina Zeki Al Hazzuri , Ph.D. and associate professor of epidemiology, noted that by raising wages, the employer thereby makes a contribution to human health in old age. Note that the minimum monthly wage in Ukraine is UAH 6,500 (hourly - UAH 39.26).
