Norwegian MP arranges delivery of thermal imaging drones to Ukrainian troops
Frølich sought to deliver the drones to the Ukrainian military together with his organization, Fritt Ukraina. Initially, they planned to do so legally, but Norwegian customs blocked the shipment.
The reason was a legislative provision dating back to the 1950s that prohibited such exports.
After the cargo was detained, the MP contacted the Norwegian government directly. He explained that the situation on the front line remained critical and that delays in delivering essential equipment could cost Ukrainian soldiers their lives.
After failing to obtain official authorization, Fritt Ukraina eventually arranged the illegal transport of the drones across the border. Frølich himself acknowledged that he had broken the law but said he did not regret his decision.
The government responded quickly: the day after the incident, the MP was promised that efforts to resolve the issue would be accelerated. Eventually, the outdated restrictions were officially repealed.
From now on, Norwegian citizens can legally send civilian drones to Ukraine.
As Rubryka reported, Michael Ziegler, mayor of the Danish municipality of Høje-Taastrup, joined a volunteer trip to Ukraine during his autumn holiday and drove a Citroën Jumpy van to Kyiv for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He visited Bucha, saw the aftermath of Russian bombings and went down to a shelter three times in one night because of air raid alerts.
Meanwhile, in Lviv, British volunteers from Mighty Convoy delivered another batch of vehicles for Ukrainian military personnel and humanitarian needs. Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, the team has completed 26 convoys to Ukraine, delivering a total of 111 vehicles.
In addition, 24-year-old Liam Visser from the Dutch city of Groningen cycled nearly 1,600 kilometres from his home to Lviv. His goal was to raise funds for a summer camp for teenagers from Ukraine, including children supported by the Spilnota-Ridni organization.
