Kyiv says farewell to Hospitallers paramedic Eva Reuter, killed in Russian double-tap strike
Eva Reuter joined the Hospitallers in November 2022, voluntarily choosing to help the wounded in the war. Yana Zinkevych, the head of the medical battalion, earlier said that Eva, "while having every right to stay in the rear, chose to save other people's lives."
The battalion said Eva was an artist and art historian, worked in game development, and had completed a bachelor's degree at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture.
In addition to working on evacuations, Eva helped supply the Medical Forces and took part in the information campaign "Veterans are different. Victory is one," which highlighted respect and equality for veterans.
Dozens of people came to say goodbye to the paramedic — her relatives, friends, brothers- and sisters-in-arms. They brought flowers, yellow-and-blue flags, and soft toys that reminded them of Eva. Her family had asked for such items the day before.
Andrii, one of those who attended the farewell ceremony, said Eva always managed to do everything, worked with precision, and was devoted to her cause.
The farewell ceremony took place at St. Michael's Cathedral. Afterward, people walked in a column to Independence Square, where they honored Eva Reuter's memory with a minute of silence.

Yuliia Shevchuk, head of the Hospitallers charitable foundation, remembered the fallen paramedic as someone ready to take on any task the front needed.
In addition, Eva served for more than a year in the company of the strike unmanned aerial systems of the 25th Separate Airborne Brigade. Her friend Sonia said Eva helped many foreigners join the Armed Forces of Ukraine and also worked with drones in an engineering role.
"Many foreigners joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine thanks to Eva. She also worked in drone engineering. Eva was a very strong woman who always supported everyone. She would come to help and always offer her shoulder… I want you always to remember her, because she cared for everyone around her, from cats to, of course, the wounded," she said.
Eva Reuter will be buried at Berkovetske Cemetery.
Background
As Rubryka reported, overnight on August 1, a Russian ballistic attack on Kyiv damaged and destroyed residential and non-residential buildings in five districts of the capital. Nine residents were killed. More than 30 people were injured, including four children.
In particular, 25-year-old Eva Reuter, a paramedic with the Hospitallers volunteer medical battalion, was killed during the Russian attack. She was saving the wounded when she came under a repeated Russian strike.
Russian troops then carried out a massive combined attack on Ukraine, using 35 missiles of various types and 185 drones of various types. The Kyiv region was the main target of the strike.
