Ukraine and Germany to jointly develop the FREYJA ballistic missile defense system
Про це йдеться на сайті HENSOLDT, передає Рубрика.
Under the agreement, Hensoldt will be responsible for manufacturing, testing, and supplying radar systems for the missile defense complex. The company will also support integrating those systems into the missile defense system as a whole.
A cornerstone of the FREYJA system will be the TRML-4D radar. According to Hensoldt, the radar has "proven its worth in combat over recent years" and, thanks to its software adaptability, is "well-suited to the intended purpose of the BMD system."
Fire Point will lead the project and oversee the overall design and development of the FREYJA system. Its role will include manufacturing, testing, and supplying FP-7 missiles, launchers, and command-and-control systems, as well as integrating the core components into a single system.
As previously reported, German defense company Diehl Defence has been in talks with Ukrainian weapons manufacturer Fire Point about the possible joint production of Flamingo cruise missiles in Germany.
What we know about missile production in Ukraine
President Volodymyr Zelenskyi previously said that Ukraine's Flamingo missile would soon enter mass production. On August 18, footage showing the missile being used in combat, including strikes against targets inside Russia, emerged online.
Fire Point, the company behind the Flamingo cruise missile, has also announced the development of its own FP-7 and FP-9 ballistic missiles, as well as air defense systems.
Ukraine is developing the FP-7 and FP-9 ballistic missiles as a potentially lower-cost alternative to the US-made ATACMS system, with a range of up to 800 kilometers.
In early October 2025, President Zelenskyi also confirmed the successful combined use of Neptune and Flamingo missiles in combat operations.
