Zaporizhzhia deploys anti-drone nets and EW-equipped buses against new Russian tactics
What is the problem?
Fedorov said Russian forces have stepped up drone attacks in recent weeks and adopted new attack tactics in the Zaporizhzhia region.
What is the solution?
Following a Russian attack near a bus stop in Balabyne, a village in the Kushuhum community south of Zaporizhzhia, local officials held an on-site meeting to discuss security measures.
The meeting brought together the military, police officers, emergency responders, and regional officials. Following the meeting, Fedorov ordered a series of immediate measures to strengthen security.
How does it work?
Work is already underway at the first public transport stops, Fedorov said.
"Work has begun at the first bus stop complexes. We are installing additional anti-drone protective netting to help protect residents during air raid alerts," Fedorov wrote.
He stressed that bus service connecting the Kushuhum community with Zaporizhzhia is essential for many residents.
Fedorov also said authorities have restored electricity service and ensured an uninterrupted water supply in the community.
As previously reported, Russian forces launched 931 strikes across the Zaporizhzhia region over the past 24 hours. One person was killed, and 14 others were injured in the attacks.
Ukraine is also accelerating the construction of anti-drone netting in border areas to protect against Russian drones. Authorities plan to install 4,000 kilometers of anti-drone protection along roads by the end of 2026.
