Ukraine unveils first guided aerial bomb Vyrivniuvach at Eurosatory 2026 in Paris

According to the disclosed specifications, the Ukrainian guided aerial bomb can be launched from aircraft at altitudes ranging from 500 meters to over 10,000 meters.

The stated range of the Vyrivniuvach guided aerial bomb is 10 km to over 130 km.

According to the presented data, the system carries a 250 kg warhead. The development reportedly took almost one and a half years, and the Ukrainian defense tech cluster Brave1 stated that the bomb was developed from scratch (as a completely new design).

Earlier, Business Insider, citing manufacturer information, reported that the Ukrainian guided aerial bomb Vyrivniuvach could cost approximately three times less than American JDAM-ER kits.

Brave1 also clarified that the bomb is compatible with Ukrainian aircraft and weapon systems. In addition, after additional certification, it will be possible to deploy it from F-16 and Mirage fighter jets.

Development of Ukrainian guided aerial bombs

As a reminder, in May it became known that a participant of the Brave1 defense tech cluster had developed the first Ukrainian guided aerial bomb. Work on the system reportedly took 17 months.

The bomb is designed to strike fortified positions, command posts, and other enemy targets.

Key features of the system include:

The Vyrivniuvach system also incorporates modern guidance algorithms to improve targeting accuracy. It is claimed that the bomb can be used regardless of weather conditions and time of day, while preparation for deployment takes up to 30 minutes.

The cluster also reported that the development has already passed the necessary testing procedures.

It is also known that the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has already purchased the first experimental batch of such munitions. At present, pilots are training combat scenarios for the use of the new weapon and adapting its deployment to real battlefield conditions.

It is worth noting that in 2024, it was reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine would soon begin testing Ukrainian-made guided aerial bombs.

At that time, it was also reported that the Ukrainian Air Force was using Western-made guided bombs (JDAM-type kits), including GBU-39 and GBU-62 of various calibres. It was also stated that the new Ukrainian bombs include structural components such as:

In addition, in the summer of 2025, it became known that Ukrainian forces in the Kherson region had used previously unidentified high-explosive weaponry. According to statements by officials, the technology was developed and tested in the Kherson sector in cooperation between the Brave1 platform, a manufacturer, and a combat unit.

Video analysis published by Mykhailo Fedorov suggested that the munition was dropped from a high altitude. Given the reported weight of over 100 kg, it was likely either a guided aerial bomb or a missile-type system.
