Ukraine Counts on Slovakia’s Strong Voice for a Just Peace and New Sanctions Against Russia – Sybiha
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha met with his Slovak counterpart Juraj Blanár in Prešov, where he informed him about Russia’s strikes on Ukraine’s energy system.As reported by UATV English, Sybiha wrote about the meeting on the social platform X.
“I informed my colleague about the situation on the battlefield, Russia’s attacks on our energy system, and the latest progress within peace efforts,” Sybiha said.
According to him, the ministers noted the active dialogue between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, as well as the positive results of the recent meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission.
“Our relations show positive dynamics, and we aim to strengthen them in all areas — from joint infrastructure projects to cooperation within the Demining and Civil Protection Shelter Coalitions,” Sybiha stated.
He thanked Slovakia for supporting Ukraine’s energy sector with €500,000, as well as for progress on establishing a bilingual Ukrainian school in Bratislava.
“We appreciate Slovakia’s consistent support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and our path toward EU membership. We count on Slovakia’s strong voice for a just and lasting peace and for further sanctions against Russia,” Sybiha emphasized.

During the meeting with Blanár, he also stressed the importance of the decision enabling the full use of frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine.
“Together, we are strengthening both our countries, regional security, and our European future,” Sybiha wrote.
As reported earlier, on Friday, December 5, Sybiha paid a visit to Slovakia, where he officially opened the new Consulate General of Ukraine in the city of Prešov.
