Ukraine's Special Operations Forces hit critical Russian plants 3,000 km away in wartime record
Special Operations Forces drones traveled more than 3,000 kilometers to reach the targets. Until now, the area had been considered a completely safe rear zone for the aggressor.
The military also stressed that the facilities are critically important to the gas condensate industry. The plants prepare and process significant volumes of gas condensate extracted from fields in Yamal.
The Novy Urengoy gas condensate preparation and processing plant has a designed capacity of 19.5 million tonnes of raw materials per year.
The Purovsky gas condensate processing plant processed 13.4 million tonnes of gas condensate in 2025.
"The gas condensate industry is an important component of Russia's economy and generates revenue for the aggressor's budget. The Special Operations Forces continue to successfully implement Ukraine's long-range sanctions against Russia, reducing its ability to wage a war of conquest," the statement said.
Background
As reported, during the attack overnight on September 9, Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces also destroyed a Su-33 fighter jet, a Mi-8 helicopter, and other Russian equipment. Reports also said drones hit another 13 vessels of the "shadow fleet" in the Black Sea.
In addition, overnight, Ukraine's Defense Forces struck a naval base in Russia's Novorossiysk. The Russian frigate Admiral Essen was also hit.
