Background
The occupiers have repeatedly attacked checkpoints on the country's southwestern border. On the night of September 6, the Orlivka checkpoint on Ukraine's border with Romania temporarily suspended operations after a Russian attack.
Also on the night of September 1, Russian Shahed attack drones struck the Orlivka international ferry checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Romanian border. As a result of the strike, the checkpoint also stopped operating. The drones struck a building and the checkpoint area. Fires broke out there after the attack.
Earlier, on the night of August 25, Russian attack UAVs struck the infrastructure of the Vynohradivka–Vulcănești checkpoint on Ukraine's border with Moldova.
At the time, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said it was already the third Russian strike on border crossings between Ukraine and Moldova in the previous two weeks.
