Solutions from Ukraine: Kyiv prepares for possible prolonged outages and creates food reserves
According to Kuiavskyi, as part of preparations for the 2026–2027 autumn-winter period, the capital has formed the necessary reserves of basic food groups. The city consistently maintains them at the required level so that if the energy system experiences complications, it can quickly provide low-income residents with essential products.

The Department of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development of the Kyiv City State Administration also plans to purchase an additional 20,000 food packages. The city will use them during emergencies to provide people with essential supplies.
The preparation of food reserves is part of the work of Kyiv's Humanitarian Headquarters, created in February 2022. The headquarters serves as a single coordination center for cooperation between structural units of the Kyiv City State Administration, district state administrations in Kyiv, municipal enterprises, charitable organizations, and donors.
The headquarters records and distributes resources and ensures rapid delivery of assistance if the security situation worsens or Kyiv residents develop critical needs.

He added that the situation on Kyiv's consumer market remains controlled and predictable.
According to Kuiavskyi, food and agricultural fairs are a separate component of maintaining a stable food situation in the capital. They regularly take place in various districts of Kyiv and provide residents with more opportunities to buy basic food products.

It should be noted that, as of 6:00 a.m. on September 6, 2026, by government decision, Kyiv introduced differentiated alerts regarding aerial threats. The new system provides separate signals depending on the type of aerial threat, which should help Kyiv residents better understand the level of danger.
As Rubryka reported earlier, Kyiv city authorities are working on a new system for organizing transport during prolonged air raid alerts. In particular, the city is strengthening ground transport and, together with the military, is reviewing current safety protocols, including those related to traffic across bridges.
