Russia strikes Kyiv and region, damaging homes, killing two, and injuring 10
Shelling of Kyiv
Russian forces attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles, drones, and cruise missiles. The first explosions in the capital occurred after the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and monitoring channels reported the movement of enemy targets. According to available information, Russia launched ballistic missiles from the areas of Kursk, Voronezh, and Bryansk.

Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko separately reported on the consequences. According to him, the grounds of an educational institution in the Holosiivskyi district caught fire. He also said people were trapped in a residential building.
The number of injured people in the capital changed throughout the morning. As of 5:30 a.m., authorities knew of six people injured in the attack. Medics hospitalized three of them and treated three others on an outpatient basis.
An hour later, the number of injured rose to seven. Authorities also reported two deaths at that time.

At 7:29 a.m., rescuers clarified that the number of injured had risen to 10.
Rescuers continue to deal with the aftermath of the enemy shelling.
Firefighters are currently extinguishing fires in non-residential buildings in the Holosiivskyi and Podilskyi districts at several addresses. In the Dniprovskyi district, they localized a grass fire caused by the shelling.
Attack on the Kyiv region
The attack on the Kyiv region began on the evening of September 7. Russian troops used jet-powered drones, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles against the region.
In particular, according to the regional head, a man suffered shrapnel wounds in Bila Tserkva. Medics provided him with the necessary assistance.
Tkachenko also said authorities recorded damage in several districts of the region:
Rescuers and emergency services are currently working at the sites. They are documenting the consequences of the shelling and dealing with the damage.
According to monitoring channels, Russia may have used various types of missiles and drones in the attack on Kyiv and the region. These included North Korean KN-23 ballistic missiles, Kh-101 missiles, Zircon missiles, Iskander-M missiles, S-400 missiles, Geran-4 jet-powered UAVs, a Geran-5 missile-drone, and a Geran-5 UAV.
Background
It should be noted that on September 7, a Russian attack damaged a private house, a car, a warehouse, and an enterprise in the Kyiv region. There was no information about casualties.
