Russian drone enters Romania during overnight attack and crashes near Ukrainian border

The drone later entered Romania's national airspace 13 kilometers east of the city of Galați. At 3:24 a.m., it crashed and caught fire in an uninhabited area 4 kilometers northeast of the village of Grindu in Tulcea County.

A group of service members was sent to the scene. Officials have not reported any casualties or material damage so far.

In addition, overnight on August 20, Poland scrambled its military aircraft in response to Russia's attack on Ukraine, but did not record any violations of its airspace.

Background

It is worth noting that drones have previously violated Romanian airspace. On August 11, the country's military destroyed two "Gerbera" drones drifting near the Neptun Deep offshore gas project in the Black Sea.

On August 14, Romania issued air raid alerts three times after a drone entered the country's airspace during a Russian attack on the Odesa region.

As Rubryka reported, Russia launched a massive attack on Kyiv and the Kyiv region overnight. In the capital, 12 people are known to have been killed, while one person was killed in the Kyiv region. There are also injured people.
