Ukrainian duo Luzan and Rybachok win second World Cup gold in C2 canoe
Luzan and Rybachok entered the third World Cup stage of the 2026 season as reigning European champions. At the event in Montemor-o-Velho, Portugal, the Ukrainians won the 500-meter race.
Their next competition was the World Cup stage in Montreal, Canada, which also serves as part of the qualification process for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
In Montreal, the Ukrainian duo completed the 500-meter distance in 2:02.02. This time secured victory at the World Cup stage, with the Ukrainian pair defeating the Chinese duo in the race for gold, which included two-time Olympic champion Sun Mengya and Yanan Ma.
After three World Cup stages, Luzan and Rybachok are the most successful canoe double team of the season. The Ukrainian pair have won two of the three stages, while also having missed the previous competition.
Luzan and Rybachok returned to competing together in April 2026. Rybachok missed the entire previous season due to pregnancy, and Liudmyla Luzan's partner at competitions was Iryna Fedoriv.
Overall, in the 2026 season, Liudmyla Luzan and Anastasiia Rybachok have already won three gold medals in the women's canoe double event — two World Cup stage victories and one European Championship title.
