Prominent US Senator Lindsey Graham dies at 71

"On the evening of Saturday, July 11, US Senator Lindsey Graham passed away following a brief and sudden illness. Senator Graham's family appreciates the prayers during this time and asks for privacy during this incredibly difficult period," a statement from his office said.

The day before his death, Graham visited Ukraine. He toured the production facilities of the defense company SkyFall, which manufactures drones for various purposes. The senator was shown the development and production of Vampire heavy bomber drones, Shrike FPV drones in several configurations, and P1-SUN interceptor drones designed to counter Russian Shahed-type UAVs.

During the visit, Graham also met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi. He was accompanied by US Representative Michael McCaul, honorary chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

Until his death, Graham served as chairman of the Senate Budget Committee. He was also a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, the Senate Judiciary Committee, and the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works.

A Republican, Graham visited Ukraine on multiple occasions. He advocated for supplying Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles, said that US President Donald Trump would "kick Putin's ass" by imposing sanctions, and drew attention to Russia's abduction of Ukrainian children. At the same time, he expressed the view that Ukraine and Russia would likely have to "exchange some territories" in order to achieve peace.

Graham spoke highly of Ukraine's drone technologies and said it would be "a huge mistake" for the United States not to establish a technological alliance with Ukraine in the field of unmanned aerial systems (UAS).
