Mykolaiv region receives 8 modern transformer substation sets from Germany
The equipment was provided as free humanitarian assistance by GIZ (the German Agency for International Cooperation), which continues to support Ukraine's efforts to strengthen its energy resilience.
The new equipment has replaced an outdated transformer substation in the Mykolaiv region that could no longer provide a sufficient quality of electricity supply. While the new transformer substation is nearly the same size as the previous one, it can accommodate more powerful, modern, and efficient equipment. This upgrade will help ensure reliable, high-quality electricity supply for local residents for many years.
The Mykolaiv region also received 26 power transformers of various capacities. During a working visit to the region, Ukraine's Minister of Energy, Denys Shmyhal, visited several energy facilities.
According to him, one of the most urgent needs for energy workers in the region amid systematic Russian attacks is power transformers, which ensure the operation of electrical substations.
"We are providing 26 power transformers of various capacities for the needs of the Mykolaiv region. They will help maintain the region's energy resilience. We thank our partners from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), who helped purchase this equipment," Shmyhal wrote.
According to the minister, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, enterprises of the fuel and energy sector in the Mykolaiv region have received humanitarian aid with a total weight of more than 2,619.5 tonnes.
