Nearly 1,000 km from the front: Ukrainian drones strike a naval base and navy arsenals in Russia's Kronstadt
Zelenskyi announced that Ukrainian UAVs had targeted military and fuel facilities on Russian territory overnight.
Our long-range sanctions also traveled about 500 kilometers to the Krasnodar region and struck an oil depot. Russia must end its war and stop attacking lives. Any manifestation of injustice against Ukraine will receive a just response," the head of state said.
According to the Head of State, the operation was jointly carried out by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the Main Intelligence Directorate.
Amid the drone attack, a fire was recorded at a military facility in Russia's Leningrad Oblast. The regional governor reported a blaze at a Russian Ministry of Defence facility in the Lomonosovsky District.
Earlier, Drozdenko clarified that the fire occurred near the settlement of Velyka Izhora, where the 15th arsenal of the Russian Navy is located.
Due to the fire, local authorities announced a partial evacuation of residents from the surrounding area. He expressed hope that the evacuation would last no longer than a few hours and assured that "the situation is under control."
Meanwhile, the city of Kronstadt was closed to entry and exit, Russian propaganda media reported, citing the organization "Organizator Perevozok," which is responsible for organizing municipal passenger transport. In the city itself, Makarovskaya Street was blocked. According to the Russian Telegram channel Astra, this street runs near the Naval Cadet Corps, where a drone may have fallen.
According to the Special Operations Forces, "Kronstadt" is a symbol of Russia's naval forces and a strategic element of the enemy's war machine. The base hosts warships, submarines, training centers, docks for repairs, and shipbuilding facilities.
They added that after Ukraine destroyed part of Russia's capabilities in the Black Sea, the importance of Kronstadt in maintaining the enemy's military potential had significantly increased. However, "now it is the turn for one of the oldest Russian naval bases to burn," the statement said.
It is recalled that in the city of Ust-Labinsk in Russia's Krasnodar Krai, on the night of June 6, drones attacked the Poltava oil depot. As a result of the strike, a large-scale fire broke out on the facility's territory, which Russian services estimated at around 5,000 square meters.
The Russian authorities also reported the downing of dozens of drones over the Leningrad Oblast, while videos of smoke appeared online in the area of Saint Petersburg, where the port is located.
As previously reported by Rubryka, in Saint Petersburg, Russia, explosions were heard and a large-scale fire broke out on the night of June 3: the Petersburg Oil Terminal, one of the largest oil product transshipment facilities in Russia, came under drone attack.
Eyewitness videos captured a massive fire on the port's territory. In some footage, burning fuel tanks at the terminal can be seen. ASTRA also analyzed numerous videos from witnesses and concluded that the targeted and burning site is JSC "Petersburg Oil Terminal" in Saint Petersburg.
