Lviv park opens new inclusive space for sports and rehabilitation

Mayor Andrii Sadovyi said Znesinnia Park had shown a strong example of what such sports locations in parks should look like.

In addition to the sports ground, two parking areas and wide pedestrian alleys have been arranged nearby.

The site also includes an observation deck overlooking Pidzamche. Paths lead to the area from Opryshkivska and Dovbusha streets, connecting Vysokyi Zamok Park with Shevchenkivskyi Hai. For visitors' convenience, a changing room and inclusive restrooms are located next to the grounds.

Anton Nikulin, head of the Lviv City Council's Sports Office, said the municipal enterprise Sportresurs would take the sports ground onto its balance sheet.

Those for whom the space was created first and foremost have also tested the new ground. The Titans-Lviv sports club, founded in 2024, focuses on adaptive sports, including wheelchair basketball.

The team's players include military veterans, civilians, and internally displaced people with disabilities. The club seeks to create comfortable conditions for the reintegration of military personnel and civilians into society and for their socialization after injury or loss of working capacity.

SC Titans-Lviv regularly takes part in national and international tournaments. The latest one took place in Braunschweig, Germany. Eight teams participated — in addition to the Titans, five teams came from Germany and two from Denmark. The Lviv team won bronze.

"I remember this park in different states, so the changes here are entirely positive. Once, everything here was made of logs, and later only the foundation remained. We hope this ground will operate for much longer," said Pavlo Kozak, the initiator of the Titans-Lviv club and its vice president, speaking about the new training ground.

The work cost 13.2 million hryvnias. The project was financed from budget funds.
