Selena Gomez's Mermaid Waves at the 2026 Emmys Just Keep Flowing
Selena Gomez has been a faithful member of Team Bob for quite awhile now; when I think of her, I think of her with collarbone-length hair, if not shorter. But for the 2026 Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, the star—whose series Only Murders in the Building is nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series—showed off some major mermaid-esque length alongside her glimmering golden gown.
I always love when a celeb pairs a very opulent or dramatic red carpet look with more casual hair, which is what Gomez did for the 2026 Emmys. Her strapless Louis Vuitton dress was a dream of a gown, made up of countless gold pailettes, and instead of going full updo or Hollywood glam, Gomez opted for flowing mermaid waves that felt nearly to the top of her hip. Her dark hair was parted subtly in the center and styled in easy, effortless, I-just-got-done-with-a-dip-in-enchanted-waters waves with tons of soft texture and lots of body.
It's honestly surprising to see Gomez with such long, lusciously wavy hair, given that many of her most notable red carpet hairstyles of the past few years have been more on the sculpted side. (Need we remind you of the ultra-tight, sleek bun she wore for her bestie Taylor Swift's wedding rehearsal dinner?) The contrast between the relaxed, sea siren waves and the statuesque gown is a really fun one, and feels like something her character Mabel Mora might be into too. It remains to be seen if Only Murders will take home a trophy tonight, but Gomez is already a big winner in our (beauty) book.
