Gigi Hadid Wore Your Favorite Y2K Headband at Paris Fashion Week

You can always rely on Fashion Month to churn out the trends, not just for apparel, but for hair, too. Over the last few weeks, the runway has given us sculptural frizz, combover-esque bangs, creative crimping, and countless other looks that make you wonder whether all of the lead hairstylists have colluded to make your morning routine a little more difficult. But behold: the trend we didn’t see coming… back. In the ultimate model-off-duty moment, Gigi Hadid was seen wearing a humble zig-zag headband—the quintessential late-'90s and early-2000s hair accessory.

After walking in Miu Miu’s Spring/Summer 2027 show on October 4, Hadid was spotted leaving the venue with her long, blonde hair pushed back by a tortoiseshell scalloped headband. Also known as a shark-tooth or comb headband (depending on who you ask, where they grew up, and how old they are), the style has those unmistakable wavy teeth that grip the hair while keeping the face free of any stray tendrils.

Hadid wore it with an otherwise wonderfully uncomplicated look: a loose, white button-down left open over a white bra, jeans cinched with a brown leather belt, and white mesh ballet flats decorated with tiny floral embroidery. She carried a brown Miu Miu bag, making the whole thing feel less like a carefully engineered Paris Fashion Week outfit and more like someone running errands after class in 2002—if that person happened to be a supermodel.

Hadid is far from the only celebrity to get in on the revival. Hailey Bieber has been wearing the style on repeat, and Hadid’s own fellow supermodel sister, Bella, has been known to wear the equally retro accordion version of the zig-zag headband, helping move it from nostalgic bathroom-drawer relic back into legitimate fashion territory.

But it wasn’t just post-show that the scalloped style was spotted. Becky Armstrong arrived at the Miu Miu show demonstrating a considerably more luxurious interpretation of the idea, wearing the house’s own metal-and-leather headband, which goes for $525—a price that’ll blow your hair back without the help of any teeth.

It makes Hadid’s choice a little ironic. Her tortoiseshell version appears to be one of the much more affordable plastic iterations—the kind that can still be found at any big-box store for less than $10. So, yes, Fashion Month may have plenty of extravagant hair ideas, but perhaps it’s the most accessible ones, like this, that’ll last well into a few more seasons.
