Russia attacks Ukraine with 138 drones: air defense destroys 101, hits recorded at 17 locations
Starting at 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, Russian forces launched 138 attack UAVs — Shahed-type drones (half of them jet-powered), Gerbera drones, and Parodiya-type decoy drones — from the areas of Oryol and Millerovo in Russia, temporarily occupied Donetsk, and Hvardiiske in temporarily occupied Crimea.
The attack was repelled by Ukrainian combat aircraft, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine's Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data, as of 8 a.m. on Sunday, September 20, air defense forces had shot down or suppressed 101 enemy UAVs. Hits were recorded at 17 locations, while debris from downed drones fell at five locations.
The attack is ongoing, with Russian drones still present in Ukrainian airspace.
