Russia Is Ready For Even Greater Escalation — Wadephul
Berlin plans to increase defense spending due to the growing number of Russian hybrid attacks against NATO. German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul stated this during a visit to Hungary, UATV English reports.
He noted that Moscow’s actions are undermining the foundations of peace in Europe and threatening the continent’s security. Wadephul pointed out that the threat from Russia became especially palpable following the drone incident at Leipzig airport.
“Russia continues its brutal, aggressive war against Ukraine and against Europe’s freedom. Fundamental principles are at stake, namely that borders in Europe must no longer be changed by force. This conflict strikes at the very foundations of peace in Europe. We’ve once again witnessed Russian drones striking just a few meters from the border with Poland. In Leipzig, we had to come to terms with the fact that Russia is ready for even greater escalation. That’s why we highly value Hungary’s solidarity following the attempted terrorist attack at the airport. By expelling ten Russian diplomats a few days ago, Budapest sent its own clear signal to Moscow about non-interference,” Germany’s foreign minister stated.
Earlier, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul reported that Berlin will take on greater responsibility for its own security and Europe’s security, and will ensure that commitments to help Ukraine are fulfilled.
