Ukraine's Liudmyla Luzan wins world championship gold in Olympic canoeing event

At the 2026 World Championships, Luzan defended her title in the women's C-1 200m event. She took the lead from the start and finished in 44.40 seconds, 0.50 seconds ahead of Canada's Sophia Jensen. American Nevin Harrison won bronze, finishing 0.54 seconds behind Luzan.

For Luzan, who is competing at her 10th World Championships, this is her 13th World Championships medal — nine gold, three silver, and one bronze. At the 2026 championships, the Ukrainian has also won silver in the C-2 500m, alongside Anastasiia Rybachok.
